John Hackenberg Obituary
SEVEN VALLEYS John D. Hackenberg, 53, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at York Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara (Celona) Hackenberg. Born February 4, 1956, in Selinsgrove, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Nel (Matter) Hackenberg and stepson of the late Anne Hackenberg.
Mr. Hackenberg was a 1978 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and served in the U.S. Army Field Artillery, stationed in Germany and Oklahoma. He was currently employed at BAE Systems where he had worked for more than 24 years. He was a former member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hackenberg is survived by a son, Christopher J. Hackenberg and his wife, Chandra, of Merrimack, N.H., and Keith D. Hackenberg of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Kim Sokol; three brothers, Dick Hackenberg, David Hackenberg and William Hackenberg; and his mother and father-in-law, Marion and Anthony Celona of York.
Funeral services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, 863 S. George Street, York (the former Hahn Home). Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside military rites are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
