West-Point.org ListServ
Our class “Listserv” or “Listserve” is a method of communicating with a group of people via email. You send one message to the “reflector” email address, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., and the software sends the email to all of the group's subscribers. Our classmate Bill Forrester was instrumental at working with West Point to establish and maintain the USMA Class-specific Listserv.
Current subscribers are limited to classmates, widows and classmates that for one reason or another, did not graduate but still maintain a strong connection to the class and attend reunions. The purpose of the Listserv is to have a vehicle for the efficient dissemination of class-specific news. The Listserve is not the appropriate mechanism for a real-time discussion and particularly not if the topic is borderline controversial at all. It is absolutely critical we maintain and promote as such to avoid subscribers opting out. It is also critical we all know we want each and every classmate accounted for and represented, and that involves the widows of our fallen brothers.
Facebook: West Point 1978 Alum (Closed Group)
This is our class Facebook page. Lot's of great information and pictures. All classmates that are on social media are encouraged to join this group and participate. The page is relatively active and it is always great to see posts on this Facebook page to show up on the feed.
Facebook: USMA 1978 Issues Forum (Closed Group)
Enter at your own risk! Very few rules associated with this Facebook "Closed Group" but provides a forum for classmates to engage in discussion about politics and others potentially contentious or controversial topics. Numerous regular contributors pushing the boundaries with their thoughts, ideas and perspective. Frankly, it is entertaining to see the rants but be reminded thick skin is required! We'll say it one more time: Enter at your own risk!
A number of the Class have moved on from the military and entered a wide variety of careers, fields, and industries. LinkedIn is a way for professionals from all of these fields to connect, see what we’ve all accomplished since graduation, and maybe even network.
